MP- Youth Summer Sailing Camp (Ages 8-16)

With a focus on sailing, this week-long camp is perfect for children interested in learning how to sail and for sailors looking for more experience. Students will be grouped by age and ability to provide the best learning experience. Campers will learn to work as a team to rig and sail the 14’ RS Quest Dinghy.  Topics covered in this class include terminology, parts of the boat, boat handling, points of sail, knots, and water safety.  Instructors will coach campers to develop safe sailing skills and build confidence on the water. Bring layered clothing appropriate for the season, a change of clothes, a towel, hat, sunscreen, water, and a snack each day. 
Next class:  Repeat to build your sailing skills. 3-weeks of camp experience required to move on to the Intermediate Sailing Camp to learn how to sail independently in the one-person 8’ Sabot dinghy.

Requirements: Age 8-16 and able to swim 50 yards.  No sailing experience necessary.
