Blended Learning - Online & Classroom

A 16-hour blended learning course including an online portion and an instructor led on-the-water boat handling skills session.  This course is for boaters of all skills levels interested in learning or improving knowledge and skills to safely operate a small powerboat less than 26’.

The objective of the course is to teach the necessary skills and knowledge for you to become a safe and confident operator of outboard powered vessels less than 26’ in length. By the end of this course, you will know about the powerboat and outboard motors, required equipment, boat preparation, launching and trailering. Additionally, you will know basic terminology and boat systems, navigation rules, safety procedures, and be able to perform basic boat handling skills including docking, turning, securing a boat, anchoring, minimum control speed, and crew overboard.

Prerequisite:  Ability to swim 5 yards.  Students must be 14 yas of age or older.

Please read:  Prerequisite:  Ability to swim 50 yards.  Students must be 14 years of age or older. Note: The hands-on, instructor led skills session to be scheduled when we have final approval for in-person adult classes. We are hoping for mid/late August.
