ONLINE COURSE WITH IN-PERSON PROCTORED EXAMS:
For students interested in preparing for their exams online, Practical Navigator offers Coast Guard–approved courses for the OUPV and Master licenses. Once you have successfully mastered the online course, you will schedule your in-person proctored exam dates with the OCC Professional Mariner Training Center.
This course provides an intensive curriculum designed to review and reinforce the skills and knowledge needed to obtain a USCG license. Course subjects will include general seamanship, navigation rules, coastal piloting and plotting, weather, tides and currents, use of reference publications, deck operations, and safety.

waterfrontcampus@occ.cccd.edu to register for your in-person EXAM* and to schedule an appointment to pick up your materials and go over the exam process. Once you have registered we will send you a coupon code to use when you register for your ONLINE TRAINING with
Practical Navigator .
*Final exam dates to be scheduled upon completion of online course.
IMPORTANT: You will have one year from date of registration to complete the course and take your exams. Exam days are scheduled on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
1. Documented Sea time:
- OUPV (Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels)-A minimum of 360 underway days as paid or volunteer skipper or crew
- Master Near Coastal - A minimum of 720underway days as paid or volunteer skipper or crew.
2. TWIC Card
3. Proof of US Citizenship
4. Current First Aid and CPR certification. See the USCG website for recognized cards or sign up for our Red Cross course.
5. A physical exam and a drug screen (details provided at registration)
** First Aid & CPR certification, physical & drug screening, TWIC Card, and Application Fees are not included in course price. A $200 materials fee is included in the price. The materials fee will be non-refundable once materials have been provided.
