Personal Safety & Social Responsibility (PSSR) Module (6 hours)
This U.S. Coast Guard-approved Personal Safety and Social Responsibility course meets the requirements outlined in the STCW Code and 46 CFR, providing critical training on safety practices, social responsibilities, and conduct standards for mariners. Designed to prepare crew members for life aboard ship, this module emphasizes teamwork, safe work practices, and effective communication in a maritime environment.

Course Content:
  • Safety Procedures & Emergency Protocols: Covers essential safety protocols, including the safe use of shipboard equipment, hazard identification, and emergency response practices to ensure the well-being of all crew members.
  • Environmental Responsibility: Emphasizes practices that support environmental protection and regulatory compliance, promoting awareness of pollution prevention and sustainable operations onboard.
  • Social Responsibility & Conduct: Focuses on fostering a respectful and cooperative environment among crew members, including standards for professional behavior, conflict resolution, and multicultural sensitivity.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Highlights the importance of effective communication and collaboration in maintaining a safe, productive shipboard environment, with practical exercises to reinforce these skills.
  • Certification: Students who complete this course will receive a USCG-approved Certificate of Completion for compliance with 46 CFR and STCW Code, valid for submission to the USCG for credentialing or license endorsement within one year.

Please read:  Prerequisites: Students must possess adequate swimming ability and physical fitness to perform all practical exercises effectively. This training is mandatory for mariners with licenses exceeding 200 GT, Able Seamen, and mariners operating vessels under 200 GT carrying passengers for hire in foreign waters.
