An intermediate sailing class for students ready to advance from dinghies and smaller keelboats to the heavier, more powerful 30’ Shields. With an emphasis on hands-on experience, you’ll practice rigging the Shields and build confidence handling a larger boat under a variety of conditions. You will learn seamanship and boat-handling skills, including docking under sail, reefing, crew-overboard rescue, skipper and crew responsibilities, right-of-way rules, and safe handling techniques. Most of the class time is spent sailing the Shields on the water.
By the end of the course, you will be prepared to continue on to Shields 2.
Class size: Min 6 – Max 12 students
