Prerequisite: Successful completion of Harbor 20 Level 2 and instructor recommendation, Shields 1, or recent equivalent keelboat sailing experience as skipper and crew. Current OCC SA membership and a passing grade on the written Harbor 20 rental and rules exams. Participants must be at least 14 years old and able to swim 50 yards.

This class is designed for students with prior experience sailing a Harbor 20 who are interested in renting an OCC Harbor 20 for day sailing. Instruction time includes approximately 20% review and 80% evaluation of sailing skills.
Students enrolling in this course must be able to rig and sail the Harbor 20 on all points of sail with proper sail trim, confidently leave and return to the dock, reef the mainsail, perform a person-in-water rescue and know basic rules of the road.
Active participation is essential for success. To earn certification, students must pass the written test(s) and successfully demonstrate all required sailing skills during on-the-water evaluations. Please note: the written test is not administered during class. It must be completed on the student’s own time, either before the class or within 30 days of completing it. For more information about our sailboat rental policies click here.
