Prerequisite: Successful completion of Beginning Sailing - Lido 1, or recent equivalent dinghy sailing experience. Participants must be at least 14 years old and able to swim 50 yards.
Intermediate Lido (Lido 2) is designed for students who have completed Lido 1 or who already know the fundamentals of sailing. Students should be comfortable with rigging the boat, steering, trimming sails, tacking, gybing, and basic docking. This course builds on those skills by focusing on more advanced boat-handling techniques as both skipper and crew. Instruction emphasizes refining sail trim, improving balance and teamwork, and problem solving while underway. Most class time is spent on the water practicing, building confidence, and learning to sail faster and more efficiently. When conditions allow, single-handed sailing is also introduced.
Successful completion of Intermediate Lido prepares students to advance to Harbor 20 Level 2 or Shields 1.
