The Professional Mariner Program gives students an edge when seeking employment in the yacht and workboat maritime professions. The program includes both classroom instruction and hands-on experience. Previous boating experience is not required, although it is advantageous.
A Certificate of Achievement from Orange Coast College (OCC) is awarded to students successfully completing MARA A150, A151, A152, A153, A154 and A156 and three recommended units of electives.
An Associates of Science Professional Mariner degree can be obtained by fulfilling the requirements for a Professional Mariner Certificate, MARA A136, A137, A157, A200 & A201, general education and transferable electives need to satisfy unit requirements.
Enrollment: Students must be enrolled at Orange Coast College to register for all Marine Activities courses. Courses are conducted the college's Professional Mariner Training Center at 1700 West Coast Hwy., Newport Beach, CA).
