Bridge Resource Management
 

The objective of this course is to instruct the mariner in the areas relevant to Bridge Resource Management and application of leadership and team working skills. The course is designed to assist professional mariners in gaining knowledge of BRM principles and proficiency through the practical application of those principles. Discussion will be facilitated to promote effective use of all available resources that will enhance navigation safety. Emphasis is on the BRM behaviors necessary to achieve effective teamwork and how to minimize accidents caused by human error. The Full-Mission Bridge Simulator is used extensively to apply techniques and behavior learned in the classroom.

Mariners successfully completing the Bridge Resource Management (BRM) Course will satisfy the Bridge Resource Management requirements of 46 CFR 11.202(e); Sections A-/II/1, A-II/2, and Tables A-II/1, A-II/2 of the STCW Code, as amended.
