Prerequisite: Participant must be at least 14 years old and able to swim 50 yards. Learn the fundamentals of sailing on a comfortable and easy to sail Harbor 20 keelboat. With a maximum of three students and an onboard instructor you will enjoy personalized instruction through a combination of classroom and on-the-water practice. You will learn basic sail theory, terminology, tacking, gybing, crew coordination, points of sail, safety, right of way, knots, and docking. Eighty percent of class time is spent sailing the Harbor 20 within Newport Harbor. Beginning Keelboat Level 1 is one of two entry-level sailing classes we offer. The other option for beginners is our Beginning Dinghy Sailing Class. Class size: Min 2 - Max 3 students
